The Danish Working Environment Service (Arbejdstilsynet) is the authority administering the Danish Working Environment Act. Working environment is a focuser on employees´ well-being at work.

The Working Environment Service supervises Danish workplaces, issue rules and inform about working environment. The Danish Working Environment Act governs these activities.

The Danish Working Environment Act
The Working Environment Act sets forth general working environment provisions. All citizens are subject to the act. Violation of the act is punishable.
The Working Environment Act sets forth rules to secure businesses a safe and sound working environment.
Business owners must observe these rules.

Sound Working Environment
Work must be planned, organised and carried out in a way guaranteeing the safety and soundness of the employees.
Hereunder, to limit and, wherever possible, avoid monotonous and burdensome work causing mental or physical health nuisance. Wherever possible, appropriate technical aids, such as lifting devices and customised means of transportation, must be applied.

APV
Along with their safety organisation or employees, all companies must work out a written place of work assessment (APV) specifying the below:

  • A listing of the company´s working environment conditions
  • A description of problems and the magnitude of such problems
  • A prioritisation of such problems and a plan to reach a solution
  • Follow-up on working procedures

Choice of method is facultative. It is for the involved parties to determine the practical completion of a APV as well as its scope, but there is no escaping it and it must be presented on the Working Environment Service´s request.
