Wage administration is no easy task. Complex rules must be carefully complied with, even if you only have one single employee.
There are several administrative aids to ease the job. The, slightly negative, reason why several systems exist is that none are ideal under all circumstances.
Dataløn
You can let your banker handle your wage administration. You only need to arrange for a sufficiently positive wage account and report overtime hours.
Dataløn is the most widespread bank administered wage system in Denmark.
Many small businesses are enthused by Dataløn due to automatic payment of tax, compulsory pension, etc. While others are less satisfied because the system may appear rigid and cumbersome and because it is relatively expensive to use. The initial charge, in particular, is often a disincentive.

Danløn
Danløn er et webbaseret lønsystem, så for at bruge det skal du have en computer med internetforbindelse. Computeren skal helst have en bredbåndsforbindelse, ellers går det hele lidt langsomt.
Det kræver et par papirformularer at komme igang, men når først det kører, så kører det efter undertegnedes mening rigtig godt. Danløn er meget billigere at bruge end Dataløn, der er intet startgebyr, og det er meget mere fleksibelt at arbejde med. I lighed med Dataløn kan Danløn selv sørge for at afregne A-skat, ATP m.v.

Letløn
SKAT tilbyder en service, der hedder ”Letløn”. Der er dog ikke tale om et egentligt lønsystem, mere om en grænseflade til f.eks. PC-baserede lønsystemer, der letter afregning af A-skat m.v. gennem disse. Letløn er webbaseret.
Strengt taget kan man godt lave løn til en medarbejder eller to gennem Letløn, uden at disponere over andre lønsystemer. Den største fordel ved Letløn er dog, at systemet er gratis at bruge, idet det er mere omstændeligt at arbejde med end f.eks. Danløn.

Want to handle it on your own?
Wage administration applications are available for PCs. Such programs are particularly suitable for companies big enough to have an administration office.
At a book store or at an office supplies store you can buy forms which, correctly completed, is a great help to wage administration. But you have to take care of everything by yourself - nothing comes from nothing.
If you know how to construct models in a spread sheet and know the basic rules of calculation of wages you can design a spread sheet featuring automatic calculation of rate of taxation, net wages, holiday pay, etc. Similar to the form option, you have to handle payment of wage, tax, compulsory pension, holiday pay and annual report to the tax authorities by yourself.
Can I pay someone to do this?
Some accountants (and bookkeeping agencies) offer various wage administration services in line with bookkeeping services.
This is a sound alternative for companies with few salaried employees as this solution ensures that the wage administration is co-ordinated with the overall bookkeeping of the company. If wages are paid on a biweekly basis, normally, this option is not expedient.
If your company has become so big that you need to hire staff, you are probably already associated with an accountant. Consult him/her for the optimal solution for your company. You can use a print out of this page as a discussion paper.
