The Regional Veterinary and Food Control Authorities (Den lokale Fødevareregion)supervise that all food processing and selling businesses comply with the regulations.
Thus, the Regional Authorities are empowered to inspect all premises of your firm and to go through applied recipes and trade documents.
Approval and Registration In Denmark, only companies approved by the Food Control Authorities are allowed to process and sell foods. This has been engendered by a public demand for high standard of hygiene and fresh products. Pizzerias, restaurants, grill bars, etc. selling foods, must have a certificate of approval. Kiosk-type outlets, solely selling prepacked foods, need only be registered.
The proprietor is liable for obtaining the required authorisation or registration. This is done by submitting an application for approval/registration to the Regional Authority.
Expenses Such registration or approval is free of charge. The Regional Authorities may, however, charge you for additional inspection if this is required.
